Lessons from the Sky

Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. - Genesis 1:6-7

1. Artistic

The sky is our very own constantly changing painting artistically and beautifully crafted by God. From clear blue skies and colorful strokes to a dark canvas that hosts an illuminating light show, the sky is a true masterpiece. Just as God is the Artist of the sky, He is our Creator as well and each one of us is a true masterpiece formed by the Almighty. From our eyelashes and fingernails to our heart and veins, every detail of our body God formed and molded into a unique and special creation designed in the image of our Creator. It is heartbreaking and sinful when we destroy, mutilate, or try to change God's workmanship. Our body is not our own, it is the temple of God and should be treated with the same love, kindness, purity, honor, respect, and value that we would treat the House of God. Just as we would not graffiti the House of God, we should not mark our bodies with ink that causes permanent scars. Just as we admire the difference and beauty of male and female animals, from birds to lions, why are we trying to change God's design for men and women? It is an abomination and against nature! Why try to change the Master's work when His artistic hand is perfect? We should honor our Artist by presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice to Him through acts of kindness, good deeds, living purely and honorable, through cleanliness, and modesty. Be a lamp to shine God's glory instead of a billboard that is branded and destructed by the world.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. - Romans 12:1-2

2. Expansive

The sky is expansive, vast, and immeasurable. From earth, the sky may appear close but when we see an airplane flying high in the sky looking like a speck, we realize how small we are. One thing I have always loved is the fact that anywhere in the world when you look up we all look at the same sky. We may all have different trees, flowers, animal species, cultures, and languages, but looking up reminds us that we are all one human race, we all are created by God, and we are all loved by God. Jesus didn't just die for me, He didn't just die for one culture, Jesus Christ died for ALL human beings, WHOSOEVER will repent of their sins and accept Him as Lord and Savior into their life, following Him and turning from worldly passions.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. - John 3:16-17
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. - Galatians 3:28
God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” - Acts 17:24-31
